Glerups — Natural Wool Footwear Handcrafted in Northern Denmark

Family-made wool slippers and comfortable footwear inspired by the fresh, rural landscape of northern Denmark.

Our Home and Heritage

The Glerups headquarters sits in the countryside of northern Denmark, surrounded by fields, trees and fresh air. The business remains a family story — as Glerups has grown we have rebuilt, redecorated and expanded our facilities while preserving the spirit of the place. Today the warehouse stands on the field where Nanny once tended her Gotland sheep. We treasure these surroundings and draw inspiration and energy from the natural environment.

Carefully Selected Wool

Glerups began using wool from the family’s own Gotland sheep. Over time we refined our blend by combining Gotland wool with soft, high-quality wool sourced from New Zealand farmers who meet our standards for consistent quality and humane animal welfare. The result is a durable, soft wool mix ideal for slippers and comfort footwear.

Natural Performance and Easy Care

Wool is a natural fibre with self-cleaning properties thanks to lanolin, the wool’s natural fat. When wool gets wet, lanolin and the sheep’s natural salts form a gentle, soap-like process that helps keep the fibre fresh. Many of these benefits carry over to wool footwear: products breathe naturally and rarely need frequent washing. Often, airing them out is enough to maintain freshness — a simple, sustainable advantage for you and the environment.

Why choose Glerups?

  • Natural wool blend for comfort and durability
  • Family-crafted in northern Denmark
  • Responsibly sourced fibres with attention to animal welfare
  • Breathable, low-maintenance footwear — less washing required

Many people use wool to keep warm, but in fact wool can also help keep the body cool. That's because wool absorbs moisture without feeling damp, up to 70% by weight by the way! - This significantly outperforms synthetic fibers or cotton. It is particularly advantageous in the summer when it is hot outside. This way no matter how much you perspire you can stay feeling dry and temperature regulated.
